INTENT AND PURPOSE

Legalized doesn’t mean available anywhere/everywhere or on demand and/or without control. (We have no control now, only enforcement.) WE HAVE: Beer at 4-6%, Wine at 12%, and we have HARD LIQUOR!

WE HAVE control on tobacco!

WE HAVE control on prescription drugs, some of which are dangerous and some of which are abused. Some are fatally dangerous, while others have health side affects that are debilitating and injurious etc.

NO ONE wants Cannabis (marijuana) on the school grounds, in the hands of children. NO ONE wants marijuana on the highway, any more than they want alcohol.

Nor do we want to lock up every consumer of alcohol. It’s been tried. It was a disaster. The result of alcohol prohibition was guns, drugs - I mean booze - and crime.

YES, we do support Medical Marijuana as well as Religious/Spiritual use, even Industrial/Commercial uses.

With this AMENDMENT, citizens can medicate themselves and even grow the proper strain of CANNABIS, and powder it, tincture it, salve it, eat it, rub it, wash with it, or smoke it.

The point being, it would be between You, Your Doctor, and GOD, with nothing to do with the ENFORCERS.

You can commune with GOD, as you so recognize The Name of the CREATOR without the permission of the "STATE."

You could even cord it and knit doilies.

YOU GET EVERYTHING WITH THIS AMENDMENT EXCEPT SALES.

NO, we are not against commercial CANNABIS/CANNABIS HEMP, PATENT MEDICINES, or HATS, T-SHIRTS, ETC., but the commercial realm is the province of "The State" to regulate, tax, etc.

We did not and do not want to write legislation and/or regulation. It’s not our intent or purpose.

This is about UNALIENABLE, GOD GIVEN RIGHTS and PRIVACY.

Get your eye away from my keyhole and your enforcement ass off my property and out of my mind, body, and life.

There can and will be NO AMNESTY for marijuana-offense prisoners until it is legal. This is a legal and POLITICAL REALITY. Hence: " The Only Way To Amnesty Is Through Legalization "

When we say "Legalization" do we mean a free-for-all on the streets and in the parks?

NO we do not! We have that now, but that will change with legalization of personal use for adults in private.

Do we oppose public use? No, nor are we promoting it. Again: Public and Commercial use is properly regulated by the State.

So do we want to legalize all uses of Cannabis?

The answer is clearly and emphatically "yes," with the understanding that legalized anything does not necessarily mean "available on demand."

It means decriminalized, it means regulated and controlled, it means available through acceptable processes. It means for Medical and Healthful purposes, and that abuse can be treated, children protected, and police powers can be directed towards crime rather than creating criminals for the recreational use of a plant. Treated how? How the hell do we know? We’re not Doctors or Psychiatrists. We’re Idealistic and Politically Active Individuals of the wingless, nonaligned, and apolitical INDEPENDENT EVOLUTIONARY PARTY. We don’t know how to treat cancer, the common cold, or a broken arm, but we’re in favor of treating them all.

We know that criminalizing, incarcerating, confiscating property, denying educational benefits, and in short destroying lives does not and will not work. Creating a totalitarian state does not promote the cause of liberty nor advance society. We know how NOT to treat it - we know what DOES NOT work.

The Baby Boomers need to ask themselves what type of society and nation would exist today if when they attended High School alcohol consumption were handled in the manner in which cannabis is being handled today. Where would most of us be or how would we have faired with a criminal record or denial of educational benefits for our foolishness? To say nothing of a five to ten-year prison sentences or even life.
